My work hinges on the relationship between dark and light shapes in a two dimensional space. I respond to the play between reflected light and cast shadows and a delicate balance between warm and cool colors. I also strive to convey story and mood.
I find everything about oil painting to be challenging and wildly enjoyable. The right combination of simple shapes, well balanced values, and rich exciting colors moves me to my core.
My work in pastel is very different, but every bit as rich in texture and color.
I have a sweet spot in my heart for pastel.
